Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Email QA Tool — what it checks, how fixes work, pricing, compatibility, and security.

What does Email QA Tool check?+

Email QA Tool runs automated checks on links (HTTP status, redirects, broken URLs), UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign, content validation), campaign codes (prefix-aware matching, country format), image alt text (quality scoring, generic placeholder detection), email metadata (sender, reply-to, subject line, preheader, copyright year), CSS compatibility (per-client scoring for Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and Yahoo with Gmail clipping detection and dark mode risk flags), WCAG accessibility (~35 automated checks including color contrast, heading hierarchy, font sizes, touch targets, table roles, link text quality, lang attributes), mobile responsiveness (fixed-width detection, media query support, viewport), and email-aware HTML validation (doctype, charset, unclosed tags, inline style fallbacks). AI also evaluates subject line effectiveness, CTA clarity, personalization tokens, and legal compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR).

Can Email QA Tool fix issues it finds?+

Yes — two ways. For content issues (broken links, wrong UTMs, bad alt text, metadata errors), the AI proposes fixes directly in chat. You see a before-and-after preview, approve the change, and download the corrected HTML. Structural changes (tables, CSS, layout) are blocked to prevent breaking email rendering. For rendering issues (CSS that breaks in Outlook, Gmail, or dark mode), the Pro plan generates an AI-ready technical report — a structured prompt with line numbers, affected clients, and suggested fixes. Paste it into Claude, Cursor, or Copilot and your AI coding tool handles the CSS changes.

How is Email QA Tool different from Litmus?+

Litmus is a full email marketing platform that offers visual rendering previews across 100+ clients, 40+ WCAG accessibility checks, spam filter testing, an email builder, and collaboration tools. It generates a QA report that marketers must read through and fix manually. Email QA Tool focuses on functional validation — whether your links are correct for this campaign, UTMs match expected values, campaign codes are right, and content meets standards. It also fixes issues inline in chat. Litmus offers AI-generated copy suggestions (Litmus Assistant) but does not offer AI-powered QA analysis, UTM validation, or conversational workflows. Litmus sells to enterprise with custom pricing. Email QA Tool starts at $39/month. The two are complementary — Email on Acid + Email QA Tool together is still well under what Litmus charges alone.

How is Email QA Tool different from Email on Acid?+

Email on Acid offers visual rendering previews across 100+ clients, spell check with inline fix, accessibility checks with auto-fix, and deliverability testing on its Premium plan ($134/month annual). Its Campaign Precheck is a guided 3-step workflow. Email QA Tool focuses on functional validation — links, UTMs, campaign codes, metadata, and AI-powered content review — plus inline HTML fixes for URLs, alt text, and content. Email on Acid does not validate UTMs, campaign codes, or content quality. The two tools are complementary: Email on Acid for rendering and deliverability, Email QA Tool for everything rendering doesn't catch. Together they cost less than Litmus alone.

How does CSS compatibility analysis work?+

Email QA Tool scores CSS support per email client using caniemail data. It identifies which CSS properties will be stripped by Gmail, ignored by Outlook's Word-based rendering engine, or partially supported by Yahoo. It flags Outlook-specific issues (border-radius, background-image, flexbox, max-width), Gmail clipping risk at 102KB, dark mode color inversion risks, and media query support per client. On Pro, the technical report includes line numbers, element references, affected clients, and suggested fixes for every issue — designed to be pasted into Claude, Cursor, or Copilot as a ready-made fix prompt.

Does it work with my ESP?+

Yes. Email QA Tool works with HTML exported from any ESP or email builder — Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, or any platform that lets you export HTML. Upload the file and the AI recognizes common ESP personalization token patterns during review. Direct inbound test send from ESPs is coming soon.

What does the free trial include?+

The free trial includes 5 total email uploads with all checks included — link validation, UTM verification, metadata checks, image alt text auditing, accessibility audit (~35 WCAG checks), mobile responsiveness, HTML validation, AI content review, and inline HTML fixes. You can download corrected HTML during your trial. After 5 emails, upgrade to Starter ($39/month) for unlimited sessions, or Pro ($59/month) to add CSS compatibility analysis and AI-ready fix prompts.

Can I send test emails directly from my ESP?+

Not yet — this is coming soon. Today, you upload HTML exported from your ESP. We're building inbound test send so you can add a unique @in.emailqatool.com alias to your seed list and have test sends arrive directly in your chat session. Sign up to be notified when it launches.

What is conversational email QA?+

Instead of navigating dashboards and forms, you chat with an AI assistant. Upload your email, tell it what to check in natural language, and get results as each check completes. When the AI finds an issue, it can propose a fix — you approve it and the HTML is updated in your session. Ask follow-up questions, request specific checks, or generate a downloadable report when you're done.

Can I use the technical report with AI coding tools?+

Yes — that's exactly what it's designed for. The Pro technical report is a structured prompt: each CSS issue includes the line number, the HTML element, which email clients are affected, and the specific fix. Download the .md file and paste it into Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or ChatGPT. Your AI coding tool gets the full context to fix Outlook rendering, Gmail CSS stripping, dark mode issues, and more — without you explaining the problem. The report is the fix instruction.

Does Email QA Tool check accessibility?+

Yes. Email QA Tool runs ~35 automated WCAG accessibility checks including color contrast ratios (AA 4.5:1 and AAA 7:1), font size minimums, heading hierarchy validation, link text quality (flags generic 'click here'), table role='presentation' detection, lang attribute checking, touch target sizes (44x44px minimum), form label associations, animated GIF seizure risk, and CAN-SPAM compliance (unsubscribe link, physical address). Unlike Litmus (which generates a report you read and fix manually), Email QA Tool can fix many accessibility issues inline via chat — alt text, lang attributes, and link text.

Is my email content secure?+

Email HTML is stored securely for the duration of your session to enable fixes and downloads, then automatically deleted after 24 hours. Your email content is not used to train AI models. Sessions are isolated — no one else can access your uploads or results.
