Why Your Email QA Report Creates More Work Than It Saves

The Report That Becomes the Bottleneck

Every email team knows this feeling. You are ten minutes from your send deadline. You run your email through QA. The report comes back with 40+ flagged items: three broken links, UTM parameters that do not match the brief, alt text missing on six images, two CSS properties that will break in Outlook, and a copyright year that is still 2025.

1.Marketer sees issue in QA report

The report says 'border-radius is not supported in Outlook 2016/2019/365' or 'link returns 404.' The marketer knows something is wrong but often does not know what to do about it.

2.Marketer files a ticket with developer

'The buttons look wrong in Outlook. Can you fix it?' The developer now has to reproduce the problem, figure out which CSS is causing it, and research the Outlook-specific workaround.

3.Developer guesses, fixes, re-sends test

The developer changes something they think will work. A new test email goes out. The marketer checks it. Still broken — or fixed in Outlook but now broken in Gmail.

4.Repeat 2-4 times

Each round burns 30-60 minutes between context-switching, re-rendering, and re-testing. A simple fix can consume half a day. Multiply by every campaign, every week.

This cycle exists because the QA report tells you that something is wrong, but not how to fix it. The marketer cannot fix it themselves — they are afraid of breaking the template. The developer can fix it, but they need to reverse-engineer the problem from a vague description. Everyone loses time.

**Why this works:** Outlook conditional comments are only
rendered by Outlook's Word engine. All other clients
ignore them and use the <div> with max-width as intended.
This is a purely additive fix.
